Quick Phishing Email Spot-check

If you receive emails you think may be questionable, a quick spot check you can do is hover over the links and a small window should show the URL (without clicking on it - please don’t click on it!).

This is a real example of a phishing email received by the organization.

In this instance, the “Dropbox Transfer” links actually go to unrelated websites and not to Dropbox, which is a common trick used for fake login pages.

The link for “Easily send large files” should list a dropbox.com URL and not amazonaws.com. The other links point to a URL even sketchier looking… the “.com.de” is a huge red flag! It was also reported the same email was sent from several different email addresses.

If you find yourself on the receiving end of a phishing email, or are just unsure, please report to [email protected] so that we may take appropriate action.

You can then use the Report Phishing button in Outlook, then delete it.
